Celebrate Purim and the Esther story with a Printable Coloring Activity Book
We partnered with Revayah Paper Co. to create this printable coloring & activity book that you can purchase and use at home, in church, in synagogue, or in any homeschool setting. This Jewish holiday, mentioned in the Book of Esther, celebrates God’s miraculous deliverance of the Jewish people from Haman’s plotting.
Purim (פּוּרִים) comes from a Hebrew word meaning “lots,” which is in reference to the lots the evil Haman cast to determine the date on which he would try to exterminate the Jewish people. Today it is celebrated on the 14th of Adar on the Hebrew calendar, which begins at sundown Monday, March 2, 2026, and concludes at nightfall on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

Should the Feast of Purim matter for Christians?
While Purim often goes under the radar in Christian churches and isn’t a biblical festival mentioned in Leviticus 23, Esther 9 tells us how Mordecai began the tradition of celebrating their victory and how God turned their sorrow to joy during Purim. As a result, it is still celebrated all over the world today.
Mordecai recorded these events, and he sent letters to all the Jews throughout the provinces of King Ahasuerus, both near and far, urging them to celebrate the fourteenth and fifteenth days of Adar every year as the days when the Jews got relief from their enemies, and as the month when their sorrow was turned into joy and their mourning into celebration. These were to be days of feasting, celebration, and sending presents of food to one another and giving gifts to the poor.
—Esther 9:19–22 TLV
Simply put, Purim tells the story of Queen Esther and her uncle Mordecai, and their resilience under pressure as they sought to see how God might be working through their circumstances. As they faced almost certain death from those ruling the kingdom, God’s hand guided the king to reveal Mordecai’s honorable deeds and placed Esther, a Jewish woman, in exactly the place she needed to be in order to go before the king, confront Haman, and save her people.
We all need this reminder—that God is always working, even when we can’t see it, to bring His purposes about in the world. Maybe God has you at the job you’re at for a specific reason. Perhaps you just ran into some old friends, not by accident, but because the King of the Universe sees what you can’t. What if the difficult season you’re going through, where nothing seems to work out right, is actually God setting you up to be in the right place at the right time?
The story of Esther reminds us and gives us confident hope that we can always trust God and His plans, even if we can’t possibly see how it will turn out for good.
We encourage you to join with the Jewish people we’re grafted into and celebrate God’s faithfulness to His people throughout the ages. To rejoice in the way He has continually been at work. To teach your children these important truths that will serve as a foundation for the rest of their lives.
May you always have eyes to see His hand in your life!
