Have you ever wrestled with your faith?

Maybe you've watched your friends deconstruct or perhaps you’ve stopped believing entirely.

10 years ago after leaving a dream job at large megachurch, all of my beliefs about God were challenged. But I didn't know that my journey towards deconstruction would ultimately lead to a more rooted, ancient way.

It was while on staff at this church my family and I stumbled into the beautiful rhythm of Sabbath rest. But soon after, we moved to be close to family, and while many of those around me were deconstructing, I had my own dark night of the soul.

I hit rock bottom.

"I don't even know if I believe this God stuff any more" the words escaped my mouth through the lump in my throat.

Yet at this pivotal moment, when deconstruction felt like the only path, God surprised me.

Returning to God as Father and King

I came to discover a God I had known before, but only at a distance. One of Grace, mercy, and compassion.

A God who loved deeply.

A God who worked with purpose and consistency

A God who was altogether holy and different.

A God who wanted the same for me.

You might say that instead of deconstructing, He began to reconstruct my faith.

This journey led me to a Jewish Messiah, who lived the Torah and all of God's ways to the fullest possible extent.

I discovered a God who keeps his covenants even when everyone else breaks them, over and over again.

A God who is faithful and can be trusted

A God who loves so much that He established a way of life, led by the Spirit, that points to him at every step of the way.

A God who established this ancient path, long ago.

And so in reconstructing, I returned to this ancient way of the early followers of Jesus.

We found life.

We brought our kids along.

We brought friends and family along.

A theology rooted in Messianic Jewish practice

What if we need to tear down these faulty views of God we've been taught? What if it's essential that we reconstruct our faith in a new and living way?

  • What if there was a God in the Old testament who is full of love?

  • What if the replacement theology we've been taught, has actually created a false god that we thought was true?

  • What if Jesus didn't come to start a new religion, but to show us how this God of the Old testament intended for us to live?

  • What if the Spirit that was given during Pentecost, was actually a long awaited fulfillment of a Messianic Jewish prophecy?

  • What if God's plan was to bring unity between Jew and Gentile, worshipping the same God of Israel together in spirit and in truth?

  • What if God had an ancient timeline, appointed days and seasons where he worked his purposes in the world. One that we've already seen partially fulfilled.

  • What if he did all of these things to build our trust in him as King of the universe?

To set us apart from the rest of the world.

To build a foundation in our lives so that we would follow Him anywhere.

Say whatever he leads us to say.
Do whatever he leads us to do.
Because we can trust him.

This is the God I serve now.

Ask for the ancient paths—where the good way is.

I stood at a crossroads for a few years, I took the ancient path and I discovered the good life. Perhaps you find yourself at a similar crossroads.
The ancient way is open to you too.

Our Father and King is extending his loving hands.

For us it started with the Sabbath. Your journey may be different, but what matters most is that you return to God and begin to follow Him with all of your heart, all of your soul, and all of your strength.
